Sodium hypochlorite is a pale greenish-yellow dilute solution which is better known as liquid bleach. It is a household chemical widely used as a disinfectant or a bleaching agent. Sodium hypochlorite comes with superior destaining properties. It is used to remove mould stains, dental stains caused by fluorosis, and the stains on crockery, especially the one caused by the tannins in tea. It has also been used widely in laundry detergents and as a surface cleaner.
