If the email address on your Xbox account is in dire need of an update, but you’re not sure how to make it happen, you’ve come to the right place. Doing so is very simple and can be done from a web browser, a mobile device, or from your console itself.

Why Would I Want to Change the Email Address on My Xbox Account?

There are 1001 reasons why you would want or need to change your email address. If you haven’t changed it since the first email address you ever made when you were 12, it is most likely overdue. Applying for jobs under the email moniker smashmaster3000 doesn’t seem very professional, after all.

If you have changed your email address, making sure you update your Xbox account to reflect that is important. If you don’t, you might miss important emails to do with your Game Pass subscription or other notifications Xbox might want to make you aware of in the future.

How Do I Change the Email Address on My Xbox Account?

Changing your Xbox email should only take you a couple of minutes and can be done on your PC, console, or mobile device. For this example, we will show you how to change it on your console itself.

To begin, open the web browser on your console. Thankfully, it's much easier on your Xbox Series X|S than opening a web browser is on your Nintendo Switch. You can do this by pressing the home button to open the menu, heading to My games and apps, See all, selecting Apps, and scrolling to Microsoft Edge.

Once you’ve accessed the internet on your console, head to the search bar and type in xbox.com. Then press Sign In in the top right corner of the screen. Enter your current details to sign in to your Microsoft account, and press your Profile Icon in the top right corner to open a drop-down menu. If both of your Xbox profile icons are just the default ones, you might want to take the time while you're in your settings to set a custom gamerpic for your Xbox profile.

Select My www.microsoft.com /link Account from the drop-down menu, head to Your Info from the bar at the top of your screen, and select Sign in preferences. You may have to verify your identity by entering a code sent to your email or mobile. If so, enter the code when prompted to gain access to your account settings.

Select Add Email, enter the information of your new email address, and press Add Alias to confirm your change. Once you add a new email to your account, you will have to verify it. To do so, head to your inbox and open the verification link that was sent to you.

Once you've clicked the verification link that was sent to your email address, your new email is successfully added and verified. Select Make Primary to set your new email address as your default one.

You can also remove your old email if you don’t want it to be connected to your Microsoft account anymore. To do this, select Remove beside the email you wish to delete.
