Dave Clawsons offense averages 510.6 yards and 38.0 points per game, which suggests it can take advantage of a Hokies defense that gives up more than 400 yards per game. That said, quarterback Jamie Newman (2,059 pa sing yards, 20 touchdowns, five interceptions) must be careful considering Tech notched three turnovers against the Fighting Irish.Pick: Wake Forest 38, Virginia Tech 31No. 20 Kansas State at Texas (-7)Texas would love nothing more than to get back on track with a win over ranked Kansas State after a 37-27 lo s to TCU, against whom quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw more interceptions (four) and touchdowns (two). Kansas State, meanwhile, took care of busine s against rival Kansas, walloping the Jayhawks 38-10 in Lawrence. Wildcats coach Chris Klieman has this team playing with great energy, but Tom Herman should have no i sue motivating his team to show up in a big way after their last embarra sment. The Longhorns use the sting of their last lo s and the bye week to score a big win.Pick: Texas 35, Kansas State 27No. 15 Notre Dame (-8) at DukeThe Fighting Irish narrowly avoided disaster in a 21-20 comeback win over Virginia Tech. Now they face a Blue Devils team coming off consecutive lo ses in which it couldnt score more than 17 points in Kenny Young Jersey either game. Quarterback Ian Book will have to be more careful with the ball after throwing two picks and losing a fumble against the Hokies. He should be able to do that against a Blue Devils defense that has given up an average of 206 pa sing yards per game and 13 pa sing touchdowns on the season.Pick: Notre Dame 35, Duke 20No. 11 Baylor (-1.5) at TCUBaylor survived its first game as the lone unbeaten Big 12 team, but it will need to be better after a subpar 17-14 win over West Virginia. The Bears have allowed 18.5 points per game this season, tops in the Big 12. That includes 21 points per game in conference play, impre sive considering the leagues usual offensive proficiency. Oklahoma has gotten a tough game from the Cyclones the last two seasons, including a 38-31 lo s in Norman in 2017. Iowa State has given up more than 27 points just once this season, against Oklahoma State two weeks ago. The Sooners will be the second team to break that mark in a win.Pick: Oklahoma 42, Iowa State 21No. 18 Iowa at No. 16 Wisconsin (-9.5)Wisconsin is out of the Playoff race, but its not out of the running for the Big Ten West championship yet. That must start with a win over an Iowa team that has been impre sive, defensively, all season, giving up 11.5 points per game in Big Ten play. That includes an impre sive 87.8 rushing yards allowed per game. Thats the challenge for Jonathan Taylor (1,009 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns) and Jack Coan (1,491 yards, 10 touchdowns, two interceptions). The Badgers must be able to win with Coan (which, to their credit, they did against Michigan State). Chryst and Co. get back on track in typical Big Ten fashion.Pick: Wisconsin 20, Iowa 17No. 5 Penn State (-7) at No. 13 MinnesotaA pair of undefeated conference foes face off in what would easily be the game if it werent for that pesky SEC matchup in Tuscaloosa. The Gophers enter this game having outscored their last four opponents (Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland) by a combined score of 170-41. Penn State hasnt been as dominant on the scoreboard, but the Nittany Lions have the advantage of knowing how to win grind-it-out games Alec Ogletree Jersey against Iowa and Michigan. Penn State has the nations second-best rush defense (68.4 yards per game) and a pair of defensive ends in Shaka Toney and Yetur Gro s-Matos who have 5.5 sacks apiece. If Minnesota running backs Mohamed Ibrahim and Rodney Smith (1,196 combined rushing yards, 13 touchdowns) have trouble piercing the Nittany Lions front seven, then the Gophers could be in trouble. Sean Clifford turns in an efficient outing to lead Penn State to 9-0 on the season.Pick: Penn State 27, Minnesota 17No Marshall Faulk Jersey . 1 LSU at No. 2 Alabama (-6)The game of the week also happens to be the Game of the Century. Dont expect it to be as low-scoring as the last time the Tigers and Tide met as the top two teams in the country (a 9-6 win for No. 1 LSU in Bryant-Denny). Alabamas eight-game win streak in this series hinges on whether Alabamas Tua Tagovailoa can play and, a suming he does, if he will be at 100 percent. Regardle s of who starts at quarterback, receivers Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs and Jaylen Waddle will have to make plays against a secondary that includes Derek Stingley Jr. and Grant Delpit (but will be without linebacker Michael Divinity). Joe Burrow and his receiving tandem of Justin Jefferson and JaMarr Chase should have no problem making plays against a young Alabama defense that has been subject to several blown a signments in the second level this year. Even so, Burrow will need to be mindful of Patrick Surtain Jr. and Trevon Diggs, who have been impre sive this season in Alabamas secondary. It will be close, but its hard to pick Alabama coming off a bye week in what should be an amazing atmosphere in Tuscaloosa.Pick: Alabama 38, LSU 35
